Two days ago, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott told Houston residents that even in the absence of an official evacuation order, “you need to strongly consider evacuating.”
But there was immediate pushback from Houston officials, who said they knew better.
Harris County’s emergency management spokesperson, Francisco Sanchez, responded to Abbott’s suggestion on Twitter this way:
“Local officials know best. Houston has no evacuation order. In Harris County: very limited to select communities. LOCAL LEADERS KNOW BEST.”
Some things to note in this storm.
Our black Democratic Houston mayor told everyone to stay home. (Remember the Democratic mayor and coward of new Orleans told his black people to Stay while he flew to Las Vegas to party ahead of the storm. He also left hundreds of buses that could have been used to evacuate the poor but instead the buses became useless as they were under water.) Both Democratic mayor’s left their people to die and suffer because they didn’t want to spend money, take charge or save their people.
Our white Republican Texas Governor told people to evacuate. Both Trump and Texas Governor declared emergencies for Texas in order to preposition assets and supplies prior to the storm hitting.
All previous storms for past 23 years had no more than 18″. Most hurricane storms dump average 5-10″ look it up. Because they don’t stop moving due to jet streams.
All previous hurricanes hooked into Brownsville went through corpus and Beeville and went NW to middle of state with similar jet stream patterns.
Why did this storm seem to go NE to San Antonio and stop. Then dart southward toward Victoria and stop. And then sit on Victoria. Where the worst of all four hurricane bands sucking water from the ocean we’re dumping on all of Houston. The storm was perfectly still turning dumping on ALL OF HOUSTON rotating in the perfect manner for perfect destruction.
When hurricanes come on land the eye usually dissolves. This particular hurricane kept it’s eye fairly formed until this morning.
