I support the President.
With so much speculation in the media, both social and main stream, I think it is important to discuss what is really happening and/or has happened.
This past week we have seen the president accused of giving Russians information that was classified as top secret that apparently came from the Israeli’s. It wasn’t illegal no matter what he gave them and I have no idea whether it was inappropriate or not but two factors keep coming up for me. The first is that nothing we have heard about it is specific enough for us to know what is true and the three guys in the meeting with the President all said it was appropriate. I believe them not some “undisclosed source in the State Department who is not on record officially” Secondly we haven’t heard Prime Minister Netanyahu complain at all or even heard word of a secret angry phone call to the president. Unless I see something credible as evidence I am going to wait before being critical of President Trump.
We have also heard about a so called “bomb shell memo” from former FBI director Comey in what can only be a “he said versus he said” moment without confirming evidence of some kind that there was obstruction of justice. What I read and heard was the President saying “I hope you drop the investigation of Flynn”. Hoping for something seems far different then threatening him and with the leaks out of the justice and state departments coming almost daily these days I would think we would have heard something more damning by now. If the president said something to Comey that was inappropriate then I expect Comey, or anyone in his position dealing with a president in office for a month at the time, to council him on what is appropriate in that situation for future reference not go back and write a memo that can be misconstrued. I thought they were both American’s with America’s best interest at heart.
Drain the Swamp
Lastly I will keep in mind that Donald Trump’s movement formed and brought him to the presidency to “Drain the Swamp”. I am sure the “Swamp” isn’t going to be drained easily so the Empire will strike back and right now that comes with dramatic hyperbole in stories and reactions to everything he does. There are two things we can do in my opinion to help. One is to be patient and continue to support the President so that he can accomplish what we want him to for our own benefit – We the People.
The other is to remind our Congressional Republican’s that they have power over Washington DC, complete power, and special prosecutors or stories like this do not give them a reason to not finish what needs to be done there. Reduce taxes, fix healthcare, fix infrastructure, limit government, promote entrepreneurship, create more competition and better outcomes in education, etc. The president maybe preoccupied by these things but his pen still works so put legislation on his desk that rebuilds our economy and our future. That is what will help you keep your job in 2018 not trying to distance yourself from what is happening in the White House.
