May we take a moment to inventory Obama’s contribution to the Middle East?
His America apology tour presaged the Arab Spring. I’m not claiming he singularly sparked revolution. I’m observing that he animated the masses.
There was a green uprising in Iran. Obama spurned the masses and stood by the Mullahs.
Egypt rises against Mubarak, and Obama hurries him off the stage. He kisses the Muslim Brotherhood, who can’t even make the sewers work. Egyptians revolt in millions, and the MB is gone. Obama is still sulking about that. If he cared about Egyptians, over the MB, he might have lent al Sisi some support.
Iraq is pacified, but by no means secure. Obama cannot dive out fast enough, Mayhem ensues. ISIS thrives.
Next up, Momo Qaddafi, the guy who surrendered his WMD program to George Bush. Obama is persuaded by Hillary MacBeth to blow him to smithereens. That turned out well for Libyans, didn’t it?. No, actually, it turned out well for ISIS. (Not ISIL, you treasonous freak).
Syria is heating up. Obama says to Assad: “Don’t use poison.” Assad farts poison all over his civilian population. Obama smirks: “Good one.”
Iran. Volumes could be written about Iran. Obama gave them a safe 10 year path to the bomb, and they aren’t even grateful enough to abide by the 10 year path. They took his ransom, his end of sanctions, and they are pressing on full speed like he’s a girl getting groped.
This is Obama statecraft in the Middle East.
