The complete 2018 State of the Union Address by President Donald John Trump, with C-Span.
The one thing that stands out about the State of the Union Address, beyond the obvious with Donald John Trump, was that number of times everyone stood up and clapped. There were many time throughout the 82 minute message that the audience stood up and sat down. Then… I realized the Democrats, for the most part, weren’t standing. They weren’t clapping.
Oh, there were a few from time to time that tried to stand, but they’d look over at Pelosi or Schumer and sit back down in their seat. They might even clap a few times, but they didn’t really clap too hard… They didn’t want to be noticed clapping.
Intermingled among them were a selection of illegal aliens, their guests to the State of the Union Address. Evidently, they all wanted to be there for the President’s address, but weren’t about to indicate in any way that they were impressed by President Trump’s accomplishments. They didn’t indicate they were supportive of anything to do with being Americans, or anything that was All American.
Their behavior was disgraceful, disgusting, and sad… When I commented about all of the hateful faces I’d seen on Facebook, I got several responses in agreement with my views, and this one:
Their behavior was disgraceful, but he has contributed to that sort of environment. No, he didn’t create it out of nowhere and no, that doesn’t excuse them, but true leadership doesn’t involve picking petty fights with singers and actors or demanding apologies on Twitter at 3am. Sadly, statesmen seem to be gone for good.
(NOTE: the author of this message is American by birth, but hasn’t lived here fulltime in several years.)
Statesmanship, as we know and expect, went out the window in an era before 9-11 Bill Clinton wasn’t a statesman. He was a rogue sex offender screwing women in the oval office. George H/W wasn’t a statesman, he was military, soldiered up. Reagan was a showman. He could talk nice, and looked the part – but Trump does the “look the part” well. He cleans up nice…
Before that, you have Jerry, a lawyer, who took the office because he was NEEDED.
Jimmy Carter can’t even qualify as a professional. He was a farmer, outclassed by the peanut gallery.
Lyndon had a corkscrew so far u p his behind he wiggled his jaw and picked his teeth.
JFK – Skirt chaser? Sorry. Pigs fly.
Eisenhauer… Korea? Really? He had Mamie who declared Korean soldiers to be subhuman, and he kept her in her pumpkin shell very well.
I can keep going, but the point is… Statesmanship is perceived very differently from one era to another, and to be honest they’ve all got faults.
Trump may not be perfect. Nobody said he was. But he’s done a heck of a good job taking back this country, and his tweets have kept an “off base media” jacking off in their shorts, instead of preventing him from doing his job (which they have been bound and determined to do). I have a sneaky hunch the people of this nation are pretty much done with the singers and sportsmen who can’t quite get their heads far enough out of their backsides to see that they don’t have the support of the American public anymore…
